Cost Tracking Tool

Modern SaaS businesses are built on top of cloud platform services and resources that are in turn provided by platform vendors like AWS, Google, and Microsoft. For each action taken by a customer, there are some measurable resources consumed on the backend -- this is why usage-based pricing is a more fair, scalable, and transparent pricing model -- and this is also where a usage-based cost tracking tool becomes invaluable.

Creating Cost Items from Meters

Meters in Amberflo track usage - they can be configured to track any service, resource, or user action. For each meter, a cost model can be defined and associated to create a cost item. The same rate models which are available for product items (in pricing applications) are available when creating cost models (ie. per unit, per block, by dimension, etc.). As usage data comes into the platform, the rate model is applied and the real-time cost of each resource/service's consumption can be calculated and tracked.

Cost Tracking Dashboards

Once the cost item is created and activated, all incoming usage for the given cost items will be totaled up according to the cost model. This allows users to see, in real-time, a breakdown of the back-end costs of a given service, resource, or user action. Dashboards are available on system level, per-customer, and per-cost item bases.
